Pregnancy and the first year after a baby arrives can bring anxiety, low mood, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, grief or just feeling like you’ve lost yourself. These feelings are common, and they’re treatable.
Our whole team is trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+-affirming, neurodivergent-friendly and uses a harm-reduction approach.

Is this the “baby blues” or something more?
Mood swings and tearfulness in the first couple of weeks after birth are common. If feelings are intense, last longer, or make it hard to function or care for yourself, reach out to your doctor or midwife and to a therapist.
Can I do sessions virtually?
Yes. Emmy sees clients in person in Hendersonville and virtually anywhere in North Carolina, which can make therapy easier with a newborn.
Do you take insurance?
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna (including the NC State Health Plan) and NC Medicaid plans: Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete Health, AmeriHealth Caritas, Vaya and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Coverage and copays depend on your plan, so please check your benefits before your first session. See Medicaid therapy.
