Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. Whether you’ve lost someone recently or years ago, or you’re grieving a divorce, a diagnosis, a pregnancy or the life you expected, you don’t have to carry it alone.
Our whole team is trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+-affirming, neurodivergent-friendly and uses a harm-reduction approach.
Who provides grief counseling
- Maria Perry-Ogg, MSW, LCSW (virtual across North Carolina)
- Dr. Tyra Williams, PhD, LMFT, LCMHC (Asheville and Hendersonville)
- Dr. Allison Becker, DMFT, LCSW (Hendersonville, and virtual for Colorado clients)
When grief needs support
Grief is normal and there’s no right timeline. It can help to talk to someone if you can’t function day to day, you feel numb or stuck, the loss was sudden or traumatic, or the people around you expect you to be “over it.”
Can EMDR help with grief?
When a loss involved trauma, EMDR can help. Maria Perry-Ogg and Dr. Allison Becker are both EMDR certified. See EMDR therapy.
Is grief counseling available virtually?
Yes, anywhere in North Carolina, and in Colorado with Dr. Becker.
Do you take insurance?
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna (including the NC State Health Plan) and NC Medicaid plans: Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete Health, AmeriHealth Caritas, Vaya and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Coverage and copays depend on your plan, so please check your benefits before your first session. See Medicaid therapy.
