You Deserve Support, Not Judgment
Food, body image and eating can take up a huge amount of space in your head. Whether you’re dealing with restriction, binge eating, purging, over-exercise or a relationship with food that just doesn’t feel okay, you deserve support that doesn’t judge you or rush you.
Our approach is trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+-affirming and neurodivergent-friendly, and we work at your pace.
Who You'll Work With
Eating disorder therapy at Born to Bend is led by Mik Kenny, MSW, LCSWA. Mik works with teens and adults in Asheville and virtually across North Carolina.
Mik draws on ACT, DBT and somatic approaches. We also coordinate with your doctor or dietitian when that helps your care.
Eating Disorder Therapy Can Help With:
- Anorexia, bulimia and binge eating
- Disordered eating that doesn’t fit a neat label
- Body image distress
- Eating concerns alongside trauma, anxiety, depression or OCD
- Recovery support after a higher level of care
Virtual Meal Support Group
Mik also leads a virtual meal support group for people in North Carolina recovering from an eating disorder or disordered eating.
It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 2pm Eastern, for $20 per session, with a sliding scale available. Members must also be working with an outpatient therapist and/or registered dietitian.
Is Outpatient Therapy Enough?
For many people, yes. If medical concerns or the severity of symptoms mean you need more support, such as medical monitoring or a higher level of care, we’ll talk with you honestly about that and help you find the right next step.
